The woman I would like to nominate inspires me
on a daily basis. She is caring and kind but can be tough and assertive when
needed. The reason I am nominating Laura Edwards-Conrad '87, my mother, is because
I am very proud to have her as a role model. This past semester, I have been
in Washington D.C. away from all the lovely Kianus on campus and it has been
fun at times but also very hard. My mom has been there for me through the thick
and the thin. I have dealt with some very serious issues with people I have
met here and she has helped me try to help them. Every time I feel like giving
up, she is there to help me put things into perspective.

I also am inspired by her on a daily basis, she is a great social worker working
as a guardian for wards of the court and as a guardian for ad litem (juvenile)
cases, but has recently started her own architectural salvage business, which
is a long way from earning her psychology degree at good ol' MC. I remember
when I was still in junior high school looking through all of her Kianu things,
and how highly she regarded this group of women, I can say that my mother has
been living up to that high standard that a Kianu projects. I am proud of my
mother's accomplishments since her pledge but I am most proud of being able
to share the letters of XAN with someone so dear to me.
Love in XAN and Especially Mine,
