I would like to nominate Mary Nader '98 Diamond
for the Girl with the Arrow. Mary and I have been friends for more than ten
years. She spent many of those years, post-college, living in Pottsville,
PA. (6-7 hours from Muskingum) We stayed in contact and tried to visit each
other when time and life allowed. In December 2006 Mary and her family moved
back to the Zanesville area. She was eager to reconnect with old friends and
to get involved in the Alumnae Association. When she was called upon to take
over as the Secretary in August of this year, she did so without hesitation.
Since she assumed the role of Secretary she has improved the way we take and
approve minutes, revamped the way we communicate, taken the initiative to
order Alumnae Association envelopes, redesigned the newsletter, come up with
creative ideas and much, much more. I am so thrilled to have her as an officer
in the Association.
Along with her eagerness to become involved again, she also put a lot of energy
into reconnecting with "The Girls." We found that our group quickly
grew from five to six. We've celebrated two girls' weekends since her return;
the second was at her house. I know that I speak for all of us when I say
that we've missed Mary and we're glad she's back. You don't realize the bonds
you make as a Kianu until there is distance. It's amazing how that distance
just melted away and we reconnected as if we hadn't missed a second.
Welcome back Mary and thanks for all that you do for the Alumnae Association
and as a friend!
