I would like to nominate April Rader '05. I lived with April for two years during college and have kept in constant contact with her since. Even after her time at Muskingum, she still upholds and embodies everything that a Kianu is and should be! She donates a lot of her time to coaching junior high softball at the school where she teaches. In addition, she is enrolled at Ashland University and taking classes toward her masters. I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like, but she is a great person and a wonderful representation of what our club is and what we stand for!

• April Rader '05

  What is your favorite Kianu story from when you were an active?
  
  AR: What is my favorite Kianu story?!? Oh, wow, that is a hard question. I have so many great memories, many of which are somewhat fuzzy... ha-ha. All of my days living in 181 Friendship were great. Pledge days were of course wonderful, trekking across the softball field in knee high snow with Katie and Marissa is near the top of my list, and "borrowing" a plastic monkey from the Phi Tau house with Lindsay and Sam ranks up there pretty high. However, I think my favorite moments are the ones I spent just hanging out with my friends. Sarah O, X-tina, VP, Deidre, maybe Kristi and Sam and I all sunning ourselves on the porch roof is something I'll never forget. The night Lisa video taped Deidre H. as she returned home late is most likely the funniest thing I'll ever see, and the countless nights of chips and salsa with my big, Lindsay, and lil, Sam mean so much to me. The formals and parties were always a blast, and recounting the stories the next morning was always a wonderful time. The bowls of "raw" brownie mix which Deidre and I devoured are nothing to be ashamed of, but have definitely had their lasting effects. I am so thankful for the friends and memories I will always have because of Kianu and the girls who made/make it was it is.
  
• How do you stay connected to Kianu as an alum?
  
  AR: I stay connected to Kianu through the close friends I made at Muskingum. There are several girls I talk to and visit fairly regularly. I've been able to make it back to Muskingum a few times since graduation, and have had a wonderful time getting to know the new actives.
  
• What have you been up to since graduating from MC?
  
  AR: Since graduating from Muskingum, I've been teaching seventh and eighth grade English at William Crawford Intermediate School. I've coached JV and summer softball for the Eagles the past two years, and have been working toward getting my master's from Ashland University. After two more class, I'll have my master's degree in Educational Administration. I've also been spending a lot of time with my family and boyfriend when my schedule allows. Although there are times I still really miss campus, I love my job and get to work with great people.
